Jannu was first climbed in 1962 by a team led by Lionel Terray. Their "french route" follows a huge hanging glacier known as "the throne" to gain the south east ridge. Gravity eventually pulls "the throne" icefall down to meet the Yamatarin glacier in the valley below. But for now I,m focused on the icy plateau and summit.
